Eagles clear ton of cap room, not interested in Le'Veon Bell

The Eagles announced Monday that they have placed running back Jay Ajayi on Injured Reserve with a knee injury that he suffered in yesterday's loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

McCoy is off to a slow start with Buffalo this season, and he is scheduled to count roughly $9 million against the salary cap in 2019.

Either way, it doesn't look like Bell will become a member of the Eagles this season. Philadelphia could certainly fit the latter part of the bill, and the team was willing to trade a fourth-round pick to the Dolphins a year ago for a lesser back in Ajayi.

McCoy spent his first six seasons with the Eagles before he was traded by Chip Kelly.

Thirty-five year old Darren Sproles figured prominently in the opener, but hasn't played since due to a hamstring injury.

Adding either Johnson or Bell would take a serious hit to the Eagles payroll this year and beyond. Ajayi had cemented his role as Philadelphia's starting running back prior to going down with the torn ACL on Sunday. It indicates that they are most likely making a move for a running back.

Imagine LeSean McCoy coming back to Philly.
