Google Now Makes Its Own Home-Branded Smart Display

Smart home devices are an absolute pain to manage, especially if you use products from multiple different companies. "Introducing Google Home Hub".

The Google Home is a great product for controlling smart lights and streaming music, but as we've seen with the Lenovo Smart Display, a display makes things much better. The device comes in two colours: Mint, Sand (pink), white and charcoal, both of which include a speaker on the back.

The Home Hub will support Routines - Google's name for a string of related commands - and will recognize distinct voices using "voice match".

Here's the thing: Google, oddly enough, isn't including a camera on this thing. To that end, the Hub won't have a camera. Still, it could be a solid selling point for many users. Ambient EQ will also turn the display off at night, so if you do decide to put one in your bedroom, you don't have to worry about the display keeping you up. The latest addition to the Google Home family, the Google Home Hub is a smart speaker outfitted with a display, and it's meant to go toe-to-toe with Amazon's Echo Show and Facebook's Portal, which was only revealed yesterday. The dashboard will also be making its way to the Google Home mobile app. Using the power of machine learning, Google will help you avoid embarrassment by automatically eliminating any underexposed or blurred photos in your collection. Like the rest of the Google Home ecosystem, the Home Hub is made out of custom fabrics and premium materials, and the large screen up front is ideal for viewing information at a glance.
