Mourinho getting Man Utd sack inevitable - Redknapp

Arnold is United's managing director so he would play a role if Mourinho were to be sacked.

David McDonnell of The Mirror, who wrote the initial claim, now suggests that Mourinho has nearly been given an ultimatum by the United board.

The manager also expressed his disappointment with the board's failure to address what he saw as weaknesses in his squad, particularly at centre-back.

When asked about the speculation around his future after his side's 3-2 victory, Mourinho said: "I am 55 years old. It is the first time I see manhunting".

"They've got Jose in place so they've got to support him with cash to strengthen what's on the field".

It was a huge setback for the Ivory Coast centre back, who has only just started to work his way back into Mourinho's plans following a fall-out towards the end of last season. Players have been blamed for not trying and the media has been accused of being disrespectful, but it's Mourinho who has been killing Manchester United with his lone-wolf mentality, rash mouth, and outdated tactics that are anti-football.

Manchester United come from behind to give under-pressure Mourinho victory

Juan Mata, Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez all scored in the final 20 minutes against Rafael Benitez's side and striker Romelu Lukaku has questioned why Mourinho's team can not always produce such thrilling attacking football.

The Theatre of Dreams reverberated to the sound of boos at half-time and although United showed some steel to shatter Newcastle's own fantasy of three points, it couldn't mask another worrying display from a side that look shorn of confidence. Facing a must-win game against one of the league's worst teams, the Red Devils went down two in the first 10 minutes and even that flattered them.

"At half time we were losing 2-0 and the fans were magnificent to the team". I hate what's happening with the criticism that the club are getting because it hurts a lot, but Saturday was a day that I think we could all enjoy as supporters. "My feeling when I think of the great Manchester United teams I think of the togetherness of the whole club".

"We have some kind of situation with Man United".

Two Champions League clashes with Cristiano Ronaldo's Juventus and meetings with high-flying Bournemouth and Everton follow before United travel to City for the Manchester derby on November 11. "It's a pity because, for 70 minutes, the organisation and determination of the team was so good".
