Pixel 3 launch: Google to unveil iPhone challenger and smart home hub

Despite the fact that the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have been making headlines in the last couple of weeks, there are still many details that have been left under the rug and which we're supposed to learn about tomorrows.

Google is holding its gadget event on Tuesday, part of its continuing push to embed its digital services and Android software more deeply into peoples' lives. The Pixel 3 packaging was all legit, and both the device's feel and specs gave a clear impression that it wasn't a fake, not to mention lining up with all the recent leaks. The Pixel 3 XL price isn't listed.

Google has been somewhat restrained in its distribution and marketing the Pixel phone, Llamas said, because it doesn't want to alienate Samsung and hundreds of other device makers who feature Android in their own phones.

Likewise, the next-generation Pixel handset has the same dual-tone case design and circular rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

A leak revealed that Pixel 3 will have a 5.5-inch display along with a resolution of 2160×1080 and 2:1 aspect ratio. The Pixel 3 would be a 2,915mAh battery, while the Pixel 3 XL gets a 3,430mAh battery.

It appears the reports of the death of tablets are greatly exaggerated, considering Google is about to unveil a seemingly strong competitor to this particular market.

Google is set to Pixel Slate for the first time in three years. Like the Google Home speakers, the Home Hub will also come with Assistant and the ability to control other smart home devices.

It also shows that the device will be available in two colors - chalk and charcoal. Official details will of course be revealed at the Google Pixel 3 launch event later today.

Alongside the video, Google tweeted: "So you think you know..."
