Record-setting night for Brees; embarrassing loss for Redskins 43-19

Following a score from the New Orleans Saints on their opening drive, the Redskins set out on their second drive trailing 6-0.

Heading into Week 5 action against the Washington Redskins, the New Orlean Saints are off to a strong start to the 2018 season winning three out of the first four games played.

Week 5 of the 2018 National Football League regular season is set to get underway in a couple of minutes.

Brees, who needed just 201 yards to break Peyton Manning's record of 71,940 career yards, greeted and thanked his teammates. At 2-2, the Redskins are in first place in the division, but with 12 games left, that's meaningless. Alex Smith was 8-1 in his previous nine prime-time games and 7-3 in his career on Monday night, but his first Monday in the burgundy and gold was a dud.

The Redskins are scheduled to visit Philadelphia on Monday night in Week 13. They might want to look for a way to get that game moved to Tuesday afternoon, such as kidnapping Gritty and holding him for ransom.

The 39-year-old Brees has enjoyed a storied career that has spanned 18 seasons. They were outplayed and out-coached on national television, losing to the Saints 43-19. If he does, however, expect the fanfare to continue throughout the night in New Orleans.

The game was temporarily stopped and Brees was given the ball that set the milestone.

However, the Saints will be without one of their big-play threat wide receivers with Ted Ginn Jr. being ruled out Monday's game due to a knee injury, according to Mike Triplett of ESPN. This a game that has several different storylines to pay attention to.

The Redskins (2-2) next take on the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

Down 26-13 at the half, the Redskins tried to make adjustments in the third quarter. "That's Quinton Dunbar", McFarland said. Brees hit Tre'Quan Smith down the sideline for the record and began to build his edge over Manning as Smith went 62 yards for a touchdown.

It's hard to imagine or remember a worse loss in the coach Jay Gruden era; not just by margin of victory, but for the team's utter incompetence. "It was just between him and I. He finished the game and played a lot better in the second half".

Norman didn't have much else to say about his benching, but he did express his frustration with Michael Thomas, and engaged in some name-calling with the Saints' wide receiver on Twitter before deleting his tweets. "I don't have time to keep doing these videos for you".

Saints officials said Brees also would hand his uniform over to the Hall of Fame after the game. No amount of powdered sugar could mask the ugliness of Washington's latest loss.

Smith finished with three catches for 111 yards. "I didn't know it was going to happen on the first play to Tre'Quan. We deserved the penalty".
