Brees, 39, now sits on 71,740 passing yards, He only needs 201 yards to take over the top spot in National Football League history.

Smith completed 23 of 39 passes for 275 yards for the Redskins (2-2). Washington's defense is off to a great start but Brees will be ready to bounce back after failing to throw a touchdown pass in Week 4. Washington scored its first second-half touchdown of the season early in the fourth quarter, but the efforts were too little too late. Brees and Colston hooked up 705 times for 7907 yards and 72 touchdowns. He utilized Ingram, who made his 2018 debut after finishing a four-game suspension, and Tre'Quan Smith. Smith went 12-of-20 for 220 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the win.

Drew Brees said back in 2006, Saints head coach Sean Payton took a chance on him, and he is grateful. Brees is no stranger to the record books, but this may be his most prestigious accomplishment yet.

Leading up to Monday night's date with the Redskins, Brees is reflecting on his first-ever pre-season experience in Miami in bring it all full circle.
