Wozniacki wins 30th title with China Open victory

Though Sevastova threatened late in the second set, Wozniacki broke in the ninth game to wrap up the title, the 30th of her career.

Ex-first racket of the world Caroline Wozniacki became the champion of a major tournament in China category Premier Mandatory with a prize Fund of $8,285,274.

The reigning Australian Open champion secured a 6-3 6-3 victory inside 87 minutes in Beijing as she won her first title since Eastbourne in June.

Wozniacki told the WTA official website: "I didn't feel great going into the tournament, to be honest". Sevastova put up some brilliant shot and failed to convert her first two break point chances as Wozniacki completed a big hold to 1-1.

This is the second title of the 26-year-old Georgian's career after he won his maiden ATP title in July.

The Japanese star required treatment to her lower back during her semifinal defeat to unseeded Anastasija Sevastova at the China Open in Beijing Saturday.

Basilashvili won 6-4, 6-4 to cause an upset against the world number four at Beijing's National Tennis Centre in China's capital.

"I think I just really appreciate still being here, playing well, being able to win these titles".

Later, she saved three break points and converted her third championship point as Sevastova hit a wide forehand. The world No. 20 made 35 unforced errors in the match, including 21 in the second set, to allow Wozniacki to close out the victory. "I hope that we will continue to have good matches", Sevastova said.
