Mental illness most of the times don't improve on their own and needs professional consultation.

Countries at the summit are expected to support a global declaration to achieve equity for mental health, marking the first time national governments have made a joint pledge to put mental health on an equal footing with physical health. But together we can change that. Harmful use of alcohol and illicit drugs among adolescents is a major issue in many countries and can lead to risky behaviours such as unsafe sex or dangerous driving.

According to a press release by the office of the special adviser, media, Edo State, Mr Obaseki said the societal discrimination against people with mental health problems has further compounded efforts by governments, experts and other stakeholders at designing products for the treatment of patients and reintegrating them into the society.

"We can all help to build communities that understand, respect and prioritize mental wellness. And we can all be a part of a new movement", they write.

'Many of the issues facing our young people today, such as, bullying, suicide, the onset of major mental illnesses, the effects of trauma, and gender identity discrimination require our time and attention, global awareness and compassion, as well as new programs and guidelines on how we can protect and empower the next generation'.
