Khabib threatens to leave UFC if teammates fired

Khabib threatens to leave UFC if teammates fired

In the build-up to the fight, McGregor mocked Nurmagomedov's accent, called him a "smelly Dagestani rat", thumped his arm, and even tried to kick him at the UFC 229 weigh-in.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) made a decision to withhold Nurmagomedov's US$2 million purse after the post-fight brawl, where the Russian jumped into the crowd to attack McGregor's jiu-jitsu coach Dillon Danis. Nurmagomedov won the fight by submission during the fourth round to retain the title.

"But if we are attacked from the outside, then, of course, not only you, but all of us can jump and there'll be hell to pay", Putin said.

"You cancelled Zubaira's fight and you want to dismiss him just because he hit Conor. If you still decide to fire him, don't forget to send me my broken contract, otherwise I'll break it myself".

"In a family anything can happen, (but) we never allow ourselves to go beyond certain limits", Putin said.

Nurmagomedov's stance is in direct reaction to UFC president Dana White saying during last Saturday's post-fight press conference that every fighter who entered the Octagon to attack McGregor will never fight in the UFC again.

"We have defended our honour and this is the most important thing". We intend to go to the end.

"I would like to address [ufc]".

After the fight, the champion jumped into the crowd to confront McGregor's teammate, Bellator MMA fighter Dillon Danis who had been antagonizing him from cageside.

In any case, punish me, [Zubaira Tukhugov] has nothing to do with that.

Nurmagomedov threatened to leave the UFC if they fire any of his teammates, which could put the promotion in an uncomfortable spot. Rockhold - who was cageside on Saturday night as well in support of his team mate - said he wasn't a fan of the things McGregor did in the lead up to the fight, particularly the bus attack back in April when McGregor and a large group of men attacked a bus Khabib and other UFC were on. "But don't forget that it was Conor who had hit my another Brother FIRST, just check the video", Nurmagomedov wrote.

If you still decide to fire him, don't forget to send me my broken contract, otherwise I'll break it myself.

The native of Dagestan, Russia, now has his disclosed purse of $2 million withheld by the Nevada State Athletic Commission pending an investigation and told UFC to keep the money should it discipline Tukhugov.

Nurmagomedov does have a point - if the UFC follows it's own pattern, they should not punish Nurmagomedov or his team as they did not punish McGregor or his team.

Now we wait to see how the UFC respond to Khabib's threat.

Nurmagomedov faces a possible suspension over the post-fight fracas and has not received his prize money, though he will keep his title.
