Samsung Galaxy A9 with four back cameras launched: Specifications, features

Launched late last month, the Samsung Galaxy A7 is the South Korean electronics giant's first triple camera smartphone.

Samsung is scheduled to unveil its next-generation Galaxy A9 family of smartphones tomorrow, and one of the headlining features of the device will be its quad-camera setup on the back.

The Galaxy A9 will be available in selected markets from November.

"Talking about the specifications, the Galaxy A9 (2018) sports a 6.3" Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ (1080 x 2220 pixels) resolution. It also has a 10MP f/2.4 sensor with a 2x optical zoom feature, an ultra wide 120-degree 8MP f/2.4 lens and a 5MP sensor (f/2.2) for depth. It isn't clear how these cameras work seamlessly together, I'd assume the camera UI switches between lenses at various zoom levels, and all make use of the depth sensor for effects.

There's also a fingerprint scanner on the back and support for Samsung's artificially intelligent assistant, Bixby.

Speaking about the new A9, DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics, said: "As a global leader in smartphone innovation, we understand the demand for meaningful innovation in a fast-paced world driven by visual communication".

Below it is the 24-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture.

Samsung describes the Galaxy A9 as the world's first "quad-camera" phone. The display size measures in at 6.3 inches diagonally, so it is larger than the Galaxy S9+ Plus and only a fraction smaller than the Galaxy Note 9. Connectivity options on the handset include Dual 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, Global Positioning System and a USB Type-C port.

Blass's image includes some info about what each lens is for, although it doesn't go very far to convincing us that more cameras = better photos.

Trusted seller Never MSRP has finally gone below that for a factory unlocked 128GB variant of Samsung's newest flagship phone, which now fetches an all-time low price of $769.99 in Metallic Copper, Ocean Blue, and Midnight Black color options.

Connecitivity-wise, the Galaxy A9 2018 comes with a USB Type-C port and, to our surprise yet again, a 3.5mm headphone jack. With all these four rear cameras, the device can capture photos with 2x optical zoom, 120-degree wide-angle view, and ideal bokeh shot.
