Djokovic schools Zverev to reach Shanghai final

After Alexander Zverev openly said that he will not play in the Davis Cup in November, and Novak Djokovic made it clear that his priority is the ATP World Cup, Roger Federer has also given his opinion on the new format of the Davis Cup after moving into the quarters of the Rolex Shangai Masters.

The 20-time Grand Slam victor and reigning champion Federer plays 13th seed Borna Coric of Croatia in Saturday's other semi-final.

The young German, who is yet to win a Grand Slam despite his undoubted talent, angrily threw his racquet at the start of the second set as Djokovic ramped up the pressure.

Coric continued the best year of his career by reaching his second Masters semi-final with a 7-5 6-4 victory over Australia's Matthew Ebden.

The 31-year-old Serb saved a set point against Anderson in an intense opener, before taking control in the tiebreak.

If I was forced to recommend a bet tomorrow, this would be it, but naturally it's hard to advocate a bet which I think is pretty accurately priced, so there are no recommendations for Saturday's semi-finals.

Djokovic, who endured a turbulent last season with injury and off-court issues, said they were "both different players" now.

"It means a lot because I have kind of played only the biggest tournaments", Zverev said.

Zverev became the first German to seal a spot in successive years in the season-ending event since six-times Grand Slam victor Boris Becker (1994-96).

After the match, Coric shared his happiness with the win: 'It has been a great year, ' the 21-year-old said.

"It's close to, or it's maybe equal to winning a Grand Slam, and I think other players will tell you the same thing, because just to be there, you obviously play well throughout the whole year".

The top four players in the world - Nadal, Federer, Djokovic and Juan Martin del Potro - had already qualified for London.
