Netflix Cancels "Iron Fist" After Two Seasons

Netflix Cancels

It had just made Colleen Wing the newest Iron Fist, and her close partnership with Misty Knight strongly hinted that the Daughters of the Dragon might soon make their Marvel debut.

Either way, there's no shortage of opportunities for Iron Fist to live on.

'Marvel's Iron Fist will not return for a third season on Netflix, ' Marvel said in a statement via Deadline. "I really liked and enjoyed watching Iron Fist with all those great actors and actresses, and you did an incredible job".

If you were one of the people incredibly excited by the possibilities left open at the end of Iron Fist season two, we have some very bad news.

A second season was released earlier this year, and while it was received more warmly, it perhaps didn't quite catch enough fire to warrant more investment.

Netflix's Marvel series are set to continue with the arrival of Daredevil Season 3 on October 19, while Jessica Jones and The Punisher have new episodes upcoming.

Danny Rand's days as a solo series lead are over.

Let's not forget that Disney has their own streaming service, tentatively called Disney Play, slated to arrive sometime in 2019. It was tiresome and uninteresting, and nearly derailed the Netflix Marvel strand - The Defenders, the big team-up mini-series that should have been the culmination of all the hype, was met with general apathy from audiences. Iron Fist did have a second season, which according to those who hadn't already given up on the show that it was a genuine improvement.

Ultimately, we'll simply have to wait and see what Marvel has in store for the Iron Fist mythos going forward. Let us know in the comment section below! After all, Luke Cage and Iron Fist team up to form Heroes for Hire, and that's something that could be explored in the third season of the Marvel series starring Mike Colter.
