Salah suffered strain not rupture, says Egypt assistant

Salah helped his national team cruise to a comprehensive 4-1 victory against their counterparts on Friday night, netting directly from a corner to cap a fine win.

But there were concerning signs with Salah in heavy strapping at the end of the match as the forward briefly returning to action after treatment before being substituted a minute into stoppage-time.

However, Salah has bagged himself a morale-boosting goal on global duty today as he's scored a stunning effort straight from a corner during Egypt's African Cup of Nations qualifier against Swaziland.

Assistant coach Hany Ramzy told Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram he thinks "it is only a muscle strain but he will undergo medical scans to determine the length of the injury".

Salah has struggled to hit the heights of last season during the current campaign with Liverpool, but Jurgen Klopp will be anxious to see his star man hobble off.

The former Roma star has scored just three in 11 appearances for the Reds but Jurgen Klopp will now be sweating on Salah's fitness with the Reds taking on Huddersfield next weekend in the Premier League.

Liverpool's next game is away to Huddersfield on October 20 when the Premier League resumes after the worldwide break.

Egypt are now top of Group J, although Tunisia have a game in hand, and Salah is unlikely to feature when they travel to Swaziland on Tuesday.
