Keller @ Large: Stephen Hawking’s Warning For Us About Our Tech Obsession

As for extraterrestrial life forms, he writes: "There are intelligent life-forms, we must be careful not to react until we evolved a little more".

Acknowledging that science had yet to overcome major challenges for the world - including climate change, overpopulation, species extinction, deforestation and the degradation of the oceans - the physicist still urged young people "to look up at the stars and not down at your feet".

Hawking died in March at age 76 before the book could be completed - but colleagues and family, including his daughter Lucy, stepped in to finish it.

For an eternity, Hawking was asked the same things and thus he started to work on "Brief Answers to the Big Questions" a year ago, but unfortunately, he was unable to finish it before his death in March at the age of 76.

"Travel back in time can't be ruled out according to our present understanding", he says. Unleash your imagination. Shape the future.' Hawking also encouraged youth to 'wonder about what makes the universe exist.' In an excerpt of his book published in a British paper, Hawking theorised about the potential emergence of a genetically-enhanced elite. The book was meant to collect Hawking's answers to the questions he received most frequently from answer seekers.

Besides being a significant scientist, Hawking was also an atheist who believed that "there's no God".

- Will artificial intelligence outsmart us?

"God does not exist, aliens do exist and can travel through time", says Stephen Hawking in a book that he wrote before his death.

Scientist Stephen Hawking of "Into The Universe With Stephen Hawking" speaks via satellite during the Science Channel portion of the 2010 Television Critics Association Press Tour at the Langham Hotel on January 14, 2010 in Pasadena, California.

Hawking has authored A Brief History of Time, which has sold over 13 million copies worldwide and shot back to the top of bestseller lists after his death, and many other books.

"He realized that people specifically wanted his answers to these questions", Lucy told CNN.

He addressed recent research funding cuts, and touches on hot-button political issues "with Brexit and Trump now exerting new forces in relation to immigration and the development of education." .

The book is not a culmination of all of the great scientist's works, and it doesn't provide any particularly new discoveries.
