Anthony Martial dismisses talk of rift with Man United boss Jose Mourinho

Mourinho had lost all three of his previous matches here as United's manager, with a combined score of 6-0, and that there was certainly the first sense of deja vu when Antonio Rüdiger headed Chelsea into the lead 20 minutes into a first half when Chelsea always seemed comfortable.

"I'm not annoyed with anything".

Maurizio Sarri said that he has not ruled out disciplinary action against the 32-year-old Italian coach, who was ordered to apologise to Mourinho after the 2-2 draw, levelled by Ross Barkley's goal six minutes into time added on.

José Mourinho had kept to his word not to over-celebrate if his team were winning and, in fairness, Chelsea fans had shown no appetite to hound him in the way that had happened on his previous visits back to his old club. What I did here today I will do in Madrid, in Milan, in Porto, the reaction from the fans is not up to me. Mistakes from centre backs have cost Manchester United numerous times already, most notably in defeats to Brighton, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.

Jose Mourinho and Marco Ianni could land themselves in hot water with the FA following Saturday's touchline brawl.

"We tried to win from the beginning of the game", the Brazil defender told Chelsea's website.

Taking to social media after the game, Ferdinand remarked how United, above anything, displayed their unwavering spirit in the second half. "We were in the wrong on the situation".

Chelsea's slick passing game gave way to long-ball hoofing tactics while José Mourinho's United stepped up a gear and Martial scored again on the break in the 74th.

This was, in the second half at least, much more like it from United, as Anthony Martial proved his quality, Juan Mata pulled the strings and Paul Pogba strived to make amends for his terrible switch-off at Willian's corner that allowed Antonio Rudiger a free header for Chelsea's first goal. "I spoke immediately with the member of my staff and I told him to speak with Mourinho and say sorry".

In the first half, United were the team so many have criticised this season.

"They are a strong team, physically very strong".

Martial was substituted for Andreias Pereira in the 84th minute, and Mourinho embraced his forward as he came off.

The angry scenes at the final whistle will understandably claim much of the attention, with Mourinho reacting to some unnecessary gloating from Ianni.

United deserved three points from this match.
