Rob Gronkowski doesn't travel to Chicago, unlikely for Patriots

Although the Patriots haven't officially ruled Gronkowski out, it seems very unlikely he would play.

Gronkowski, 29, has played in every game this season for the Patriots, who are 4-2 and tied for first place with the Dolphins in the AFC East. He caught three passes for 97 yards last week against Kansas City, including a 39-yard reception to set up the game-winning field goal.

A banged up Mack against a healthy Waddle is a win for Khalil Mack. Mack, who has five sacks, four forced fumbles and an interception return for a touchdown, never has missed a game during his five National Football League seasons, a streak of 69.

"We will go with what we think is best for him and what is best for the team", Bears coach Matt Nagy said on Friday of his prized defender, who's appeared in 70 consecutive games (69 starts) to begin his career. He also has been dealing with an ankle injury since Week 3.

Given Gronkowski's importance to New England's offense, bettors began to hop on the Bears shortly after the news broke.

Gronkowski had the back injury pop up in practice this week and is listed as questionable for the Week 7 matchup against the Bears.

Fellow cornerback Marcus Cooper (hamstring) is doubtful.
