Anu Malik removed as Indian Idol judge after #MeToo allegations

An anonymous account by another woman says that after an incident where Malik tried to hug her, she refused to participate in the ongoing Indian Idol 10, in which Malik was one of the judges.

In a tweet earlier this week, singer Shweta Pandit recalled an encounter she had with Anu Malik when she was 15 years old. Revealing about meeting Anu Malik at his home alone, the first survivor said that the composer lifted her skirt and dropped his trousers. After singer Sona Mohapatra, Shweta Pandit and two other women, Alisha Chinai has come forward to validate the accusations.

Details: Anu Malik is the new sexual predator of Bollywood? .

Sona Mohapatra has named Anu Malik and Kailash Kher in her #MeToo accounts.

According to media reports, the decision came after the television network asked Malik to back down from the show. He said, "Then you must be so lonely". His lawyer on Thursday issued a statement, stating Shweta's allegations were false and baseless. "I, Anu Malik, have made a decision to take a break from Indian Idol as I am now unable to focus on my work, my music and the show", he told PinkVilla. "My client respects the #MeToo movement, but to use this movement to start a character assassination mission is obnoxious".

She further added, "This incident occurred in Kolkata". One of our colleagues from the production crew was travelling with a cameraman and Malik in a auto to get sound bites. She also alleged that the composer would call her at odd hours. "It has taken a lot in me to open up this wound again and speak up against this paedophile and sexual predator", she said. She has also said that she would support all the women who have raised their opinion and hoped they can now find peace and closure in their lives. "She was startled. The cameraman who was sitting in the front seat wasn't aware of what was going on behind him", she was quoted as saying. Yet they turned a blind eye to his ugly behaviour.
