Denver Broncos QB Chad Kelly arrested for trespassing, police say

This is not a good look for Chad Kelly.

Police arrested Chad Kelly for trespassing early Tuesday morning, according to a press release and affidavit from the Englewood Police Department.

Police responded to an address at 1:17 a.m. Tuesday for a call about a male standing outside a residence.

Kelly is accused of entering a home in the 3200 block of South Lincoln Street uninvited and sitting down on a couch while mumbling incoherently, according to Englewood police.

Lozano called to a man in the house, identified as Marco Torres, who confronted the man and hit him in the upper back with a vacuum tube. At the time of Kelly's arrest, some fellow Broncos were attending a Halloween party inside the Gothic; it's unclear whether Kelly had been at the party earlier.

Teammate Von Miller held a players-only Halloween party at the theatre on Monday night.

The Broncos are aware of the incident but have yet to release a statement. The theme was the wild west.

Emmanuel Sanders defended his choice to dress up as a character played by Dave Chappelle known as Tyrone Biggums.

Kelly appeared in court Tuesday morning on first-degree trespassing charges.

Kelly is due back in court Wednesday.

This is not the first time Kelly has been in trouble with the law.

"We're obviously very, very disappointed in Chad and the situation that he put himself into", Elway said. "Our organization has been in contact with Chad, and we are in the process of gathering more information", the statement said.

Kelly, the Mr. Irrelevant of the 2017 draft and nephew to Hall of Famer Jim Kelly, was chosen so low not just because of on-field inconsistency, but also off-field red flags: He was suspended and then dismissed from his first high school team, and he was dismissed from Clemson in April 2014 for conduct detrimental to the team.

Police found Kelly inside of a black auto near the Gothic Theatre and, after confirming the trespassing using security footage of the incident, sent Kelly to Arapahoe County Jail.

Although he didn't play in the Senior Bowl after his final season at Ole Miss because of a right knee injury, he was in attendance all week in Mobile, Alabama, so he could talk with National Football League teams about his off-field troubles.

The Broncos chose Kelly as the 253 pick in the 7th round of the 2017 draft.

Despite the unfortunate nickname, sports pundits have been impressed by the strides Kelly has made.

It's been a awful season for Broncos quarterbacks.

It was a natural suggestion.
