Strong storms cause Amazon building collapse, two dead

Fire chief Roman Clark spoke to the Baltimore Sun.

The fire department says one person is dead and another was unaccounted after a weather-related building collapse at an Amazon distribution warehouse on Baltimore's southeast side, the Baltimore Sun reports. We are working with emergency responders to assess the damage and we are thankful for their quick response this evening. "The safety of our employees and contractors is our top priority, and at this time the building remains closed".

Amazon spokeswoman Rachael Lighty attributed the collapse to "severe weather" in a statement sent to multiple media outlets. Baltimore fire officials didn't immediately respond to phone or email messages from The Associated Press. He reported that one person was found under the debris of the collapsed building and later was taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead by the doctors.

Two people were killed after a wall collapsed at an Amazon distribution center as a storm rolled through the area on Friday.

The National Weather Service is surveying the area to determine whether a tornado touched down.

"It just sounded like bombs were dropping everywhere", he said. Rain was pouring everywhere; all the packages were soaked.
