The 'thank u, next' meme is being embraced by every fandom

After Ricky Alvarez, who the pop star dated from 2015-2016, posted a video of himself on his Instagram Story listening to the breakup bop and zooming in on his confused face after his mention ("Wrote some songs about Ricky / Now I listen and laugh"), Ariana gave the former backup dancer an apology. "It was meant v lovingly". In the song, she opened up about her high-profile relationships including with Big Sean and Ricky Alvarez who she revealed actually heard the song before it dropped. In fact, she even throws some subtle shade at a couple of 'em!

She sings: 'Thought I'd end up with Sean, but it wasn't a match. "I'm still a great song though". "Wish I could say 'thank you" to Malcolm, cause he was an angel.

Tweeting "One taught me love, one taught me patience, and one taught me pain", people paired Ariana's emotionally mature declarations with competing love interests, like the three potential fathers from Mamma Mia.

Ariana also insisted she is going to focus on herself after her most recent break-up.

On Nov. 3, Ariana Grande released the empowering breakup track "thank u, next", which acts as a thank-you letter to her exes, in which she acknowledges the lessons they've taught her while explaining how they've made her a better person.

The 25-year-old songstress replied by reposting his response, writing, "Oh for sure ... ty next ..."

Pete Davidson chose to say some kind words about ex-fiancée Ariana Grande on "Saturday Night Live" after previewing "Thank U, Next".
