Los Angeles Chargers release kicker Caleb Sturgis

With Seattle trailing the Chargers 25-17, the Seahawks lined up for one last play - an untimed down with magnified stakes.

It all came down to one last play, an untimed down from the 6, after a pass interference penalty on the Chargers put the ball at the 1, and then a false start on Seattle's J.R. Sweezy moved it back 5 yards.

The Chargers brought a three-game winning streak into their game against Tennessee two weeks ago; they left with a four-game streak. His passer rating of 105 was still stellar and, most importantly, his control of the ball ensured that his team won, but it was a shakier start than usual.

The Seahawks allowed 11 explosive plays on defense in their loss to the Chargers. That makes it eight straight good games in a row from Rivers. He was a full participant in practice for the first time this week on Friday. The loss dropped Seattle back to even at 4-4.

White was selected by the Chargers in the fourth round in last April's draft and played in the first three games. His 34-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter gave him 34 TDs in his past 36 games after going scoreless in his first 14 games.

Carson had been listed as questionable on the injury report with a groin problem, but wasn't on the inactive list the Seahawks released before the game.

McDougald didn't play in the second half with a knee injury that Carroll said was "pretty sore" on Monday.

Despite all that, Wilson almost pulled off another fourth-quarter rally. "We had a chance but it didn't work", Wilson said.

He finishes his tenure in Los Angeles 9-of-13 (69.2 percent) on field goals and 9-of-15 (60.0 percent) on extra points as he appeared in six games this season.

The Chargers next face the Raiders on Sunday.
