PUBG and PES 2019 are free on Xbox One today

At least one of those games - PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds - will probably see a ton of downloads during the period that it's free.

While you can download the game for free now, but you'll only be able to play with full functionality from November 8-11, according to a post from Xbox on Wednesday.

A user on the Resetera gaming forum has discovered a post from PSNProfiles.com, and he claims to have found two images of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds on PSN.

That would be interesting timing for two reasons.

In response to comments about a possible release around The Game Awards 2018 on December 6 in Los Angeles, Ahmad added: "Pretty much".

It's been so long since Microsoft hosted a proper fan event it's hard to say what they'll actually announce but the tweet below promises "big news" for PUBG, as well as The Forge expansion for Shadow Of The Tomb Raider and new State Of Decay 2 updates.

This comes on the back of the September leak that the Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee had rated PUBG for PS4.

While the free copy of PES 2019 is certainly nice, we imagine many Xbox One users will be after the free copy of PUBG first. That said, I wonder if it's a case of too little, too late. This, as Microsoft notes on the store, is PUBG version 1.0, so this is the full release for free. There's also Call of Duty: Black Ops4, which has an excellent, polished Battle Royale in Blackout (when it works), and numerous other Battle Royale-styled games that could signal saturation.

"It's confirmed that PUBG is coming to PS4".
