Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg hospitalized after fall at Supreme Court

Ruth Bader Ginsburg is hospitalized after taking a nasty fall that fractured 3 ribs, and the fall comes immediately on the heels of President Trump easing his path to confirming more Supreme Court Justices. But she felt discomfort overnight and made a decision to go to the hospital early Thursday morning - where she has been admitted for observation and treatment.

Ginsburg, 85, initially went home after the accident, which occurred in her Supreme Court office. The same thing happened in 2012, when she broke two ribs and then went right back to work the next day despite being in pain.

Ginsburg was the second woman to be named to the nation's highest court.

The justice married Marty Ginsburg in 1954 and the couple attended Harvard Law School together.

Tests showed she fractured three ribs on her left side and she was admitted for observation and treatment, said the spokeswoman, Kathy Arberg.

It's too early for any word on Justice Ginsburg's path to recovery just yet - but definitely makes ya think.

In the 2018 midterm elections, Republicans won seats in the U.S. Senate, making future Supreme Court confirmation battles easier. Updates will be provided as they become available. The next oldest justice is Stephen Breyer, who is 83.

This is a developing story.
