Xiaomi Offers AirPods Alternative for $30

The company has reportedly launched a pair of wireless earbuds that resemble Apple's AirPods, but are significantly less expensive at just $30.

For starters, AirDots are equipped with Bluetooth 5.0, which the second-generation of AirPods are expected to have if they're ever released. Unlike AirPods, however, the AirDots have silicone tips that could allow for better sound isolation and a more secure fit. They can also play and pause music, or answer and reject calls by just a touch using their fingers.

Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi has come up with a brand new pair of earbuds. The new Xiaomi AirDots Youth Edition is therefore particularly interesting due to their low price, which is the equivalent of only about 25 euros.

Xiaomi has launched its new truly wireless earphones with Bluetooth v5.0, alongside two new Mi Notebooks and a 65-inch Mi TV 4. Xiaomi's new TV is available for consumers to purchase in China, though its availability in global markets is unclear at this point. These new AirPods come with model numbers A2031 and A2032 which could correspond to the left and right AirPod with the models having already completed the Bluetooth Qualification process. Said pairing is automatic once you remove them from the charging/carry box, too, as long as you've gone through the initial pairing process. If they are removed, they automatically connect to the last connected smartphone. It will go on sale in China at CNY 199 from November 11.

The AirDots Youth Edition will also be supporting two-way wake-ups and with the aggressive pricing from Xiaomi, it will be interesting how it will be competing with other wireless headsets in the market. The AirDots Youth Edition can provide a continuous music playback of up to four hours.
