Democrats have a plan if Trump fires Mueller in 'Saturday Night Massacre'

A Mississippi U.S. Senate seat held by Republicans is going to a runoff, but analysts predict the GOP will have little difficulty winning in one of the nation's most conservative states.

Four tight races in California are still counting ballots and could go either way.

The news for the next year or longer seems likely to be dominated by a steady stream of coverage of the people closest to Trump as they testify before Congress under duress, or under a grant of immunity, or coverage of their refusal to speak at all for fear of incriminating themselves.

While Democrats support infrastructure spending, the stumbling block in the Trump plan was the provision that the private sector would effectively own the roads and bridges that it builds. And having helped increase the Republican majority in the Senate, Trump has shown that he doesn't have to; the Senate reflects the Electoral College. Compared to the 2014 midterms, Democratic turnout was greater in several states: namely Arizona, Georgia, Texas and Florida.

Overall, 6 in 10 voters said the country was headed in the wrong direction, but roughly that same number described the national economy as excellent or good.

The day after midterm elections lend themselves to sitting presidents delivering frank assessments of poor performances by their parties.

He bet big on a xenophobic closing message, warning of an immigrant "invasion" that promised to spread violent crime and drugs across the nation.

The president's current job approval, set at 40 per cent by Gallup, was the lowest at this point of any first-term president in the modern era.

The Justice Department dropped the charges after his trial ended in an hung jury.

And then there's a lawsuit against Trump by almost 200 Democratic senators and representatives who accuse Trump of constantly violating the Constitution's emoluments provision banning the acceptance of gifts from foreign and domestic interests.

"If it's not the Mueller report, the focus will be redistricting or campaign finance reform", he said. An MMA fighter, Davids defeated incumbent Republican Rep. Kevin Yoder in a race to represent the third district in the Sunflower State.
