Emma Thompson honored with damehood in London

Emma Thompson honored with damehood in London

The 59-year-old gave Kate and Meghan lessons in regal chic with a double-breasted co-ord and navy-hued top for the Buckingham Palace trip. "He said, 'This day isn't about me, it's about you, '" she added.

"I love Prince William", Thompson, a longtime friend of William and the royal family, said after the event.

Now that she's officially a Dame, don't think that will stop Thompson from speaking her mind. "I've known him since he was little, and we just sniggered at each other", she told the Associated Press.

However, Thompson didn't seem too bothered by the rejection. You can choose to say, 'Well, of course we don't have an empire anymore, thank God, because it was ghastly, colonial, racist, dreadful, dreadful undertaking on every level, ' and actually have some moral principle about it.

Another commented, "And I thought I couldn't love her any more than I do already".

Thompson was recognised for her achievements in the Queen's Birthday Honours back in June and is rightfully proud of the incredible honour. "You can choose to say, 'Well, of course we don't have an empire anymore, thank God, because it was ghastly, colonial, racist, terrible undertaking on every level, ' and actually have some moral principle about it", Thompson said on "Late Night with Seth Meyers" in September.

Thompson collected the honour from the Duke of Cambridge with her husband Greg Wise, daughter Gaia and adopted son, Tindyebwa Agaba, by her side.

At Thursday's ceremony she said she planned to use her new title to bring attention to the plight of poor children who don't get adequate food during school holidays.
