Sarkar controversy: AR Murugadoss rubbishes arrest rumours

Justice GK Ilanthiraiyan passed the interim order on the anticipatory bail petition filed by Mr Murugadoss, who apprehended arrest over complaints filed in connection with the "objectionable" scenes. The ruling leaders of Tamilnadu pointed a couple of scenes that seem to be instigating violation against the government and warned the makers to face legal action if the scenes are not voluntarily cropped. Last night Tamil Nadu cops went to the residence of AR Murugadoss but returned back after the top director was not available.

The ruling AIADMK had demanded that the filmmakers edit all the scenes from the film that are critical of the party and Jayalalithaa. Soon several celebrities came out to support AR Murugadoss. Head of the Tamil Nadu Theatres Association Abirami Ramanathan confirmed to TNM about the cuts carried out in the movie. They objected to scenes showing people throwing freebies like mixers and grinders, given by the government, into a bonfire, dialogues against welfare schemes, and also naming a corrupt politician Komalavalli, which they said was the original name of former CM Jayalalithaa.

They also opposed the usage of the name "Komalavalli" for the antagonist, played by Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, claiming that Komalavalli was Jayalalithaa's birth name and that the movie shows her in a bad light.

'Sarkar, ' produced by Sun Pictures, stars Vijay and Keerthi Suresh in key roles, and was released on November 6.
