Florida Man Wearing 'Crocs' Jumps Into Crocodile Pit, Gets Bitten

"He. took a jump into a pond infested with big crocodiles", Aiple said.

A Florida man broke into an alligator farm and spent hours splashing around in a pond full of crocodiles before being attacked by one. The man appeared to have several bites on his foot, but denied being at the alligator farm.

Hatfield was arrested and taken to a nearby hospital for surgery.

John Brueggen, director of the alligator farm, told the newspaper that Hatfield apparently got inside the park on Monday night and damaged the snack bar before going into the crocodile enclosure, called "Oasis on the Nile". Hatfield then scrambles out of the water, leaving behind a trail of blood.

Surveillance video obtained by Action News Jacksonville shows the man standing on the walkway and then leaping over the rail and into the water at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm. A neighbor called 911 at 6:50am the next morning to report a suspicious person, wearing only his underwear, crawling in a backyard near the park.

Hatfield can be seen on the video entering the alligator farm at around 7:45 p.m, where officials said he caused more than $5,000-worth of damage to the farm, according to police. "In our 125-year history, this is the first time anyone has tried to go swimming with the crocodiles".
