President Trump UNLOADS on 'Unprofessional' Jim Acosta

"Honestly, I think you should let me run the country, you run CNN", Trump shot back. Sanders tweeted the doctored video in defense of Acosta's White House press pass being revoked, and Colbert believes she should be held accountable.

President Trump insulted three reporters affiliated with CNN on Friday, and said the White House may continue to take press passes away from members of the media.

The National Association of Black Journalists, which also called for Acosta's White House credentials to be reinstated on Thursday, celebrated Ryan, Phillip and Alcindor on Twitter.

Acosta asked Trump if he thought he had "demonized" migrants by calling the group an "invasion".

When NBC reporter Peter Alexander took the mic for the next question, he defended Mr Acosta as a "diligent reporter" - earning Mr Trump's ire. "You run CNN, and if you did it well, your ratings would be higher", Trump said.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders later announced that they would be suspending Acosta's press credentials, sharing a video that appeared to show Acosta jerking his arm into the arm of the woman reaching for his mic.

In his press availability, Trump also went after April Ryan, a reporter for American Urban Radio Networks, as someone who did not show respect.

"I was just trying to ask a question of the president at this press conference, and it was obviously a question that he didn't like", Acosta told CNN colleague Anderson Cooper later Wednesday.

The president said he had not decided if Acosta's pass would be reinstated and he suggested there "could be others" who lose their credentials.

Acosta asked very few actual questions during his exchange with Trump. "She doesn't know what the hell she is doing". In between the two questions, Trump attempted to move on, but Acosta refused.

The White House claimed Acosta "placed his hand" on the female intern while she tried to get the microphone.

"I saw someone who I think was very very frustrated and very very angry that I was bringing up the fact that some people think he was emboldening white nationalists", Alcindor said on "Hardball With Chris Matthews" on Wednesday.

On Friday, Trump said of Acosta, "He was not nice to that young woman".

Much of this was based on a story from the Washington Post that called it "doctored" and one from the Associated Press which quoted an independent expert who also said it was doctored. I watch her get up-I mean, you talk about somebody that's a loser. "You have to treat the presidency with respect", he said.

"This is a lie", Acosta responded.
