Among the many pop culture categories at the People's Choice Awards Sunday in Santa Monica, Calif., is a special nod to cool Canucks.

Shawn Mendes beat the likes of Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars to win male artist of the year, while the Vancouver-filmed "Riverdale" was awarded the prize for best drama show.

Earlier in her acceptance speech, Minaj - who has been romantically linked to British racing driver Lewis Hamilton - thanked her fans.

"You guys are so epic, I can not imagine my life without you, I love you to pieces and I can not wait to see you guys on tour". People's Choice Awards to finesse her way into "Black Panther" actor Michael B Jordan's arms. "I love you to pieces".

From the show's cheeky beginning - in which a tuxedo-clad Will Ferrell and John C. Addressing her audience with a shocking grande finale, the Trinidadian-born young lady set tongues wagging with: "Shoutout to Michael B Jordan, because he is going to take it off of me tonight".

Minaj then winked and poked her tongue out as the audience erupted into shocked laughter.
