Anthony's reps looking for new team

With Carmelo Anthony's time in Houston appearing to be headed toward its conclusion, his representatives spent Monday talking with National Basketball Association front offices about finding a potential new team, Adrian Wojnarowski of reports. Anthony has missed the past two games with what the Rockets have called an "illness" and he's also supposed to not play in their matchup against the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday. Anthony wants to get back on the court with the Rockets to help contribute, but it appears coach Mike D'Antoni is planning on giving more minutes to rookie Gary Clark.

The Celtics would need to open a roster spot in order to add Anthony or anyone else, as they now have the maximum 15 players on their active squad.

Rumors have recently claimed the Miami Heat and the Philadelphia 76ers will pursue Anthony, and his representatives are gathering information about his options.

Anthony has struggled through his first 10 games as a Rocket, averaging 13.4 points per game on just over 40 per cent shooting.

Anthony chose to be a supporting part of Houston's championship aspirations over opportunities to play a more prominent role elsewhere.

Which NBA team could Carmelo Anthony land with?

Anthony's performance in the opening 10 games mirrored that of the Rockets themselves: uneven.

Where Anthony goes and even whether or not he ends up getting cut is still a mystery, but no matter what, it's extremely likely we don't see Anthony in a Lakers jersey anytime soon.

Several general managers and their coaches tell ESPN that they have been discussing whether adding Anthony could be helpful to them, or if there is a way to make that work with current roster structures. Anthony's best short-term course of action could be to exercise patience. "Every reason we've brought him here, he's followed".
