PS4 controller patent update points to possible built-in touchscreen

There are going to be discounts, including a bunch of PlayStation 4 deals, some of which Sony announced today.

What are you hoping for over the PS4 Black Friday 2018 sale? Low prices on PlayStation products including a PS4 Spider-Man bundle, controllers, and PlayStation VR will start on November 16 and run through November 26.

Select DualShock 4 wireless controllers are also on offer, including the standard Black, Blue Camouflage, Magma Red, and Midnight Blue editions, plus the rather bling Gold and Crystal variants.

Will you be grabbing a bargain this Black Friday?

In order to spruce things up, Sony might be working on a touch-screen enabled PlayStation controller.

One of the deals that might interest you is the Spider-Man PS4 bundle which will be offered for $200 in the United States and $260 in Canada. According to a recent patent granted to the company, a touchscreen controller is in the making with a similar form factor. The PlayStation VR has also been marked down to $200 / $250 CAN. The company will also have several game deals in the PlayStation Store running from November 16 to 27, though it's yet to announce specific titles.

A list of those titles wasn't provided but the sale itself will last from November 16th to the 27th. I'm personally hoping Sony uses this more as a new way to handle remote play.

Microsoft isn't the only major video game console maker offering great deals during Black Friday.

This isn't a new idea, we have seen iterations of touchscreen technology in gaming controllers before in the failed Nintendo Wii U (since corrected with the Switch) and Sega Dreamcast.
