Honda Passport will be built in USA and debut at LA show

While the crossover SUV will make its full debut in Los Angeles, Honda plans to reveal the 2019 Passport online a day before on November 27 via a YouTube livestream.

The new Honda Passport will be positioned between the CR-V and the Pilot when it launches in the USA market early next year.

Honda has confirmed the Passport will be built at its plant in Lincoln, Alabama, where the Pilot is made. The online event kicks off at 6:30 p.m.

Honda has released a few teaser images of the Passport, though they don't give us much to go on. & General Manager, Honda Division.

The original Passport, a derivative of the Isuzu Rodeo, was Honda's first SUV and was marketed from the 1994 through 2002 model years.

Honda brand light-truck sales are on track for a fourth-straight record year, on the way to top 700,000 units for the third year in a row and now accounting for more than half of the Honda brand's USA sales so far this year, with light-truck sales up 5.3 percent from year-ago results.


The original Passport was American Honda's first foray into SUVs.

Honda goes so far as to say that the Passport was created to hit the sweet spot between a daily driver and a weekend off-road, all-weather adventure vehicle.

Honda's USA light-truck sales, up 5.3 percent this year, are on track to set a record for the fourth straight year, and exceed 700,000 for the third year in a row.
