The 50 best places to work in Britain

That survey was taken by almost 29,000 employees, the Journal reported, compared with the just 436 Facebook employee reviews on Glassdoor over the past year.

A Facebook employee at the company's Menlo Park headquarters warned Glassdoor visitors not to believe all the negative press.

The job and recruiting site just released its annual Employees' Choice Awards, ranking the best places to work in 2019 among companies with at least 1,000 employees, based on voluntary and anonymous feedback from those workers.

Facebook is now ranked No 7 - scoring 4.5 out of a flawless 5.

Tech companies accounted for 14 of the top 50 spots this year, down from 22 tech brands last year.

As noted by ZDNet sister site CNET, there are 29 tech companies in the top 100 this year, including LinkedIn in sixth place, Salesforce 11th, SAP 27th, Adobe 30th, Microsoft 34th, Nvidia 36th, VMware 51st, T-Mobile 59th, Cisco 69th, Apple 71st, Texas Instruments 77th, NetApp at 82nd, and HP Inc 87th. Below, we've compiled Glassdoor's 2019 list of The Best Places to Work in tech. It rose a number of spots from last year's ranking of 21. Facebook, which has been on the list for the past nine years, has seen a drop in its ranking before, such as a drop from No. 5 to No. 13 between 2014 and 2015.

It is possible that Facebook slipped in the list this year because of all the controversies that have surrounded it. Others companies that made the cut are lesser known but are still providing exceptional experiences for their employees. Workers' concerns - and protests - over how the military could use Google's technology contributed to executives' decision to pull a bid for a $10 billion cloud contract with the Pentagon. The search giant's ranking is also down from fifth place in 2018.

Anglian Water came in at number 1 for the first time with a rating of 4.5. Reviews are submitted by current and former employees. Facebook ranked No. 1 for five of the past eight years.

Employee reviews cited the company's culture and community events as pluses.

The New Year is usually the mark of a new start for most people.
