Burger King Looks To 'Detour' Folks On Way To McD's 12/05/2018

Burger King have upped the ante in their turf war with McDonald's by telling customers to "order Whoppers at McDonald's".

If customers are within 600ft of a McDonald's in the U.S., they can unlock a deal giving them a Whopper burger for one cent through the Burger King app. But, and here comes the sneaky part, customers have to be using the Burger King app to order - and be at a McDonald's. If the customer is close enough to the golden arches, the app will unlock the penny promotion for fans to order.

This is not the first time Burger King has trolled its bigger rival - one advertising campaign even compared Ronald McDonald to Stephen King's murderous clown Pennywise from It. The one-cent Whopper promotion runs from now until Wednesday, December 12th.

But in fact the Twitter account was heading to the nearest McDonald's to unlock the one-cent Whopper after downloading the mobile app.

Recently, the fast food chain announced a new promotion to encourage people to use their mobile app.

Burger King is offering a "Whopper Detour" promotion.

In a later tweet, the company joked: "morning everyone. if you happen to be going to McDonald's today, drive safe".
