NASA scientist spoke about miniature aliens who might visit Earth

Have aliens already visited Earth without us knowing about it?

The Professor also said that we're not even really know anything about how should look like a foreign planet inhabited by intelligent life, and it is therefore possible in their search we miss them without even realizing it. Colombano also suggested that extraterrestrials may have found out technology that human can not yet comprehend, such as making interstellar travel a possibility.

"Our typical lifespans would no longer be a limitation (although even these could be dealt with multi-generational missions or suspended animation), and the size of the "explorer" might be that of an extremely tiny super-intelligent entity", he said.

If the aliens aren't carbon-based life forms, then that would alter what we look for when we think about interstellar visitors, Colombano, of Nasa's Ames Research Centre in California, argued.

That's the pitch NASA scientist Silvano P. Colombano recently made in a research paper that recommends "a new, more "aggressive" approach" to the USA space agency's search for extra-terrestrial life. "If we adopt a new set of assumptions about what forms of higher intelligence and technology we might find, some of those phenomena might fit specific hypotheses, and we could start some serious inquiry", wrote Colombano in the study report, Independent.co.uk reports.

In the paper, he also suggested that extraterrestrials might have figured out technology that human beings can not comprehend.

He said that the current thinking about alien life is way too narrow and it might have gone far beyond human technology, worldwide newspaper reported. With this in mind, Colombano argues that if alien civilizations formed on planets that old, they might have reached a level of technological and evolutionary advancement that's nearly unimaginable to us.

Radio waves continue to be the major form of communication for thousands or millions of years.

The research paper has been gaining traction across mainstream media so far, but as Science Alert noted, the NASA scientist paper was just one out of 21 papers submitted for the workshop.

For a more aggressive approach to alien searching to happen, Mr Colombano suggests scientists need to be show a "willingness to stretch possibilities as to the nature of space-time and energy".

The expert concludes the paper by calling on technologists to explore "Evolvable Robotic Systems" while also beseeching the scientific community to look deeper into existing reports of UFOs and extraterrestrial phenomena including, but not limited to, a close examination of "130,000 pages of declassified US Air Force documents, National UFO Reporting Center Database and several other global databases".
