WH Official: UN Ambassador Will Be Downgraded To Non-Cabinet Position

State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert, who is expected to be named as USA ambassador to the United Nations, attended Pine Manor College from September 1988 to May 1990, the college said Friday. "You know what I think about?"

Haley announced in October she would step down at the end of the year from her post at the United Nations, stirring speculation about the popular Republican's political future. He too was a former USA ambassador to the United Nations - and caught Trump´s eye as a commentator on Fox News.

"We guide all of our students to find their passion and set out to achieve their personal and professional goals". Nauert, 48, worked for Fox News from 1998 to 2005 and, after two years away during which she worked for ABC, she returned to Fox in 2007, later becoming a presenter for Fox & Friends.

Trump's decision was first reported by Bloomberg News and if confirmed Nauert is likely face a "tough" Senate confirmation hearing.

The Washinton Post also quoted former state department official Brett Bruen as saying, "While Haley didn't bring foreign policy experience, she ran a state". She oversaw public diplomacy in Washington and all of the roughly 275 overseas USA embassies, consulates and other posts.

Overnight she took charge of overseeing communication from USA diplomatic missions around the world as well as countering propaganda from the Islamic State movement and other foreign adversaries. Material from Globe wire services was used in this report. "If confirmed, I look forward to continuing the outstanding job Ambassador Haley has done representing your administration and the American people". She was subsequently named as the acting undersecretary for public diplomacy and public affairs in early 2018.

"Now in terms of formulating policy, I suspect that she is not going to play the role that Nikki Haley did as ambassador to the United Nations", Schaefer said.

Haley told The Weekly Standard she would remain in NY for the next two years so her son could finish high school there, and she wanted to remain an active voice on foreign policy. "She's very talented, very smart, very quick".

Schaefer notes, though, that Trump already has a team in place that he relies on for help in crafting foreign policy -Pompeo and National Security Adviser John Bolton.

Originally from Wisconsin, she attended Mount Vernon College, a now-defunct all-women´s school in Washington, before graduating from the elite Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

As a New York-based anchor and correspondent at the Fox News Channel, Nauert oversaw breaking news, anchored programs, covered global and domestic crises and interviewed senior elected and military officials.
