Leaked! The Refreshed BMW 7 Series Has a Seriously Big Grille

Engine lineup is likely to remain unchanged. Major changes aren't expected, although a digital instrument display is likely and should significantly enhance the user experience while also helping the 7 Series keep up with technology offered by rivals such as Audi. It shows a BMW 7-Series facelift with a very large kidney grille, similar to the controversial design found on the new BMW X7. The blue highlights suggest that the headlamps will continue to get BMW's Laserlight system. The bumper has also been restyled with larger outboard intakes that frankly sort of remind us of those on the rear of today's sporty Honda Civics.

Although the recent images don't reveal anything about the updated sedan's cabin, some older spy shots have given us a fair idea about it.

We've been spying the 2020 BMW 7 Series since a year ago and thus the leak doesn't necessarily come as a surprise. The vehicle pictured here is riding on multi-spoke alloy wheels.

On the powertrain front, the facelifted 7 Series needs to comply with stricter emissions regulations, which means its range-topping V12 engine might be axed. The slats also have blacked out flaps behind them that can close and open according to the speed of the auto and the head generated by the engine to optimise aerodynamics and thermal efficiency.

With the facelift, BMW might also introduce the plug-in hybrid variant of the 7 Series, the 740Le, in India to take on the Lexus LS 500h, which is a petrol-hybrid. Currently, BMW offers the 740Le in worldwide markets only.
