Mike McCarthy Only Interested in Coaching Jets Next Season

The Dolphins fired Gase at the end of December after three seasons behind the bench. Adam Gase had an influential one.

There are five teams looking for a new head coach, but McCarthy will reportedly pass on the Cincinnati Bengals, Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos and Cleveland Browns. He was sacked after going 7-9 this season.

According to ESPN's Jeff Darlington, Manning called Jets CEO Christopher Johnson to endorse Gase for the job.

The Jets did not have a great 2018 season under Todd Bowles as they went a disappointing 4-12. He was hired by the Dolphins as their head coach the following season. It was not clear if Rhule was offered the job.

In a move that's coming to the surprise of many, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport says Gang Green is hiring former Dolphins skipper Adam Gase as their new head coach. Although New York hasn't been to the playoffs since 2010, the year McCarthy won the Super Bowl in Green Bay, rookie quarterback Sam Darnold provided a potentially bright future.

He's been a collegiate head coach since 2013, first taking Temple to a pair of bowl games in four seasons, then taking over Baylor in the wake of the Art Briles scandal.
