Billie Eilish unveils gripping new track 'When I Was Older'

"Having access to the sounds used in the film proved to be invaluable", she and O'Connell said in a statement.

Recording artist Billie Eilish, and brother Finneas O'Connell, perform onstage during Glamour Celebrates 2017 Women Of The Year Live Summit at Brooklyn Museum on November 13, 2017 in New York City.

The song is out now worldwide via Darkroom/Interscope Records, ahead of the release of a full-length Music Inspired By Roma album via Sony Music Masterworks. "Nothing about this song would exist without the film, which is exactly what we love about it".

Seventeen-year-old multi-platinum global pop-phenom Billie Eilish has fast become one of the biggest stars to emerge since the release of her debut single "ocean eyes".

"When I Was Older" is a track that will be featured on the upcoming Music Inspired By Roma album, which will included a collection of songs inspired by the Golden Globe-winning foreign-language film, curated by the movie's director Alfonso Cuarón. In "When I Was Older", we see her capturing a point of view from another character, another life, and circumstance. Late a year ago, she released the singles "Come Out And Play" and 'When The Party's Over'.

Billie Eilish and the 2018 movie Roma perhaps doesn't sound like the most natural pairing in the world. It follows a domestic worker's journey in 1970s Mexico, and has been praised not just for its humanity, but also for the ways in which Cuarón captures both the era and the landscape of the film's namesake Mexican neighborhood.
