Criminal Minds to End With Season 15

The final 10 episodes will be shot back-to-back with the Season 14 episodes now in production.

The beloved series' official Twitter account confirmed the news that its upcoming 15th season will be its last with an "epic final season" promised to viewers.

CBS" EVP of current programs, Amy Reisenbach said that "It is the quintessential CBS hit. "It speaks to everything we do best, which is air quality television".

Criminal Minds' Season 14 finale airs Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 10/9c on CBS. "It's been successful not only on air but online, in syndication, internationally for ABC (Studios)".

She added: 'But they respect this series and the cast and the crew and the fans enough to end this properly'. The final arc will also feature a "worthy adversary" for the team.

By the time the show wraps, it will have produced 325 episodes, which makes it one of the top 20 longest-running shows of all time. Casting details are still being worked out, but Messer is hoping to bring back some memorable unsubs as well as cast members for the final run (Shemar Moore is still in town filming S.W.A.T., just in case you were wondering). "As long as we have heroes who want to keep chasing the bad guys I feel like we could keep going, and going, and going".

"That won't be shooting until the spring, so I have some time to think about it, but the hope is to be able to honor all of that history, all of those heroes who have come and gone".

Criminal Minds is now shooting its 15-episode 14th season, and will stay in production to complete the remaining episodes.
