Derby County say training ground 'spy' is member of Leeds United staff

The sixth-placed Rams are set to take on the Championship leaders on Friday in a clash of two teams with promotion aspirations.

Neither Frank Lampard or Marcelo Bielsa have commented on the incident yet though Derby have released a statement.

The BBC has asked Leeds United for a response, while Derbyshire Police said no arrests have been made.

No arrests were made, according to police, and the man was sent on his way.

Despite some reports, no damage to the fence was found, and the man was stopped outside the grounds.

If Leeds vs Derby wasn't already a highly-charged Championship fixture ahead of tonight's match - it is now.

Derby County manager Lampard was forced to stop training on Thursday morning after it emerged a man in plain clothes was watching their session with binoculars before police were called to the scene.

And the Rams said on Friday afternoon that it had been "confirmed to Derby County that the individual concerned is an employee of the footballing staff at Leeds United Football Club".

The club says they are in discussions with Leeds over the incident.

Leeds have lost their last three games in all competitions.
