LeBron to miss another week with groin injury

The team will provide another update Thursday, Jan. 16.

LeBron injured his groin during Lakers' Christmas day win against the Warriors, and was rushed to the locker room, where initial scans had shown that the injury was not a serious one and could de dealt with pretty quickly.

While receiving daily treatment, James' only on-court work during his recovery has been light shooting.

LeBron James' groin injury is healing, and the star forward has been cleared to increase his on-court activities, the Los Angeles Lakers said.

The three-time National Basketball Association champion met with trainers on the court, appeared to tell them he "felt it pop" and then headed to the locker room without assistance.

During James' eight-game absence, the Lakers have struggled, going 3-5.

Los Angeles signed James to a four-year, $153.3million contract in July.

In 34 games this season, James has averaged 27.3 points per game with 8.3 rebounds and 7.1 assists. They now sit in eighth place in the Western Conference with a 23-19 record.

They've bounced back in some regard by notching back-to-back wins heading into Friday's matchup with the Utah Jazz.
