Unai Emery says Arsenal can't make permanent signings this month

Arsenal are looking at signing players who can ensure a strong finish to their Premier League campaign but the club's transfer activity this month could be restricted to loan signings, manager Unai Emery has said.

Arsenal are closing in on a loan deal for Denis Suarez after head coach Unai Emery convinced the wideman to join the Gunners, Goal understands.

Arsenal are trying to seal a loan deal for Barcelona's Denis Suarez, who played as a winger for Emery during their time together at Sevilla.

"We can't sign with payment for one player", Emery said at a news conference on Thursday.

"I don't know his [Suarez] situation now", said Emery.

"We will only sign players who give us quality".

The Gunners have won their last two games in all competitions, and will look to make it three wins in as many games when they travel to the London Stadium to take on West Ham on Saturday.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega during the window, as well as defensive reinforcements.

Emery has already acknowledged that the club are seeking potential loan deals for the window with the obligation to buy and such kind of approach could hamper their prospects of signing Carrasco.

Asked specifically about a move for Suarez, Emery said: "I don't know his situation now".

There was better news for Emery ahead of Saturday's Premier League trip to face London rivals West Ham.

"But I am happy with every player today, it is really some injuries that didn't help us in the last matches because we struggled with different injuries with the players. His future I respect a lot because he has a very private decision but he is with us every day, and I repeat that I am very happy with him".
