Vinod Rai recommends 2-ODI ban for Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul

Recently, Indian cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul attended a talk-show named Koffee With Karan, hosted by producer and director, Karan Johar, and made some sexist remarks on women.

"Certain remarks / comments made by the guests on the episode 12 of Koffee with Karan [season 6] may hurt the sentiments of our users / viewers", the Star India-owned Hotstar said in a tweet, replying to a user query about the now-missing episode. Furthermore, BCCI's Committee of Administrators (COA) chief Vinod Rai has recommended a two-match ban for Pandya.

The episode that aired on 6 January on Star World, and also uploaded on Star's OTT platform Hotstar, is no longer available on the website. The recent episode became quite the centre of attention for all the wrong reasons, so much so that the comments made by Hardik Pandya and K L Rahul even resulted in strict action being taken against them by BCCL.

He also shared that he openly identifies the women he sleeps with to his parents: "At a party my parents asked me acha tera wala (women) kaun sa hai (Which are your women)?" "You are just watching and observing how they move as I said I am a little from the black side (influenced by West Indies culture) so I have to see how they (women) move first", he said. Rahul answered saying, "up to the woman" while an outspoken Hardik said: "Nahi nahi aisa kuch nahi hai, talent pe hota hai".

Taking to Twitter, Pandya posted, "After reflecting on my comments on Koffee with Karan, I would like to apologise to everyone concerned who I may have hurt in any way". Honestly, I got a bit carried away with the nature of the show. Virat Kohli-led India are set to take on Aaron Finch's Australia in a three-match ODI series, starting with the first match in Sydney on Saturday. The duo faced major backlash on social media. He said, "We, definitely, as the Indian cricket team do not support views like that and that has been communicated".
