Brit nominations revealed: Anne-Marie and Dua Lipa lead the way

Meanwhile, Jorja Smith, one of the UK's biggest breakthroughs of last year, is nominated for British Female, British Breakthrough and British Album of the Year.

Anne-Marie is up for British Female, British Single, British Artist Video of the Year and British Album of the Year for her debut offering Speak Your Mind. Sam Fender has already been named as the victor of the BRITs Critics' Choice award. She will go head to head with George, whose LP "Staying Out to Mars" receives a nomination, as well as nods in British Male Solo Artist and British Single for "Shotgun".

The latter are nominated for British Group alongside Arctic Monkeys, Gorillaz, Little Mix and Years & Years.

The five musicians nominated for International Male are Drake, Eminem, Kamasi Washington, Shawn Mendes, and Travis Scott.

Aphex Twin has been nominated for the British Male Solo Artist award, alongside Craig David, Sam Smith, Giggs and George Ezra.

An especially strong worldwide women's category sees Ariana Grande, Cardi B and Camila Cabello compete for the prize.

British Artist Video will see Anne-Marie, Calvin Harris featuring Dua Lipa, Clean Bandit featuring Demi Lovato, Dua Lipa, Jax Jones featuring Ina Wroldsen, Jonas Blue featuring Jack & Jack, Liam Payne and Rita Ora, Little Mix featuring Nicki Minaj, Rita Ora, and Rudimental featuring Jess Glynn, Macklemore and Dan Caplen compete against one another.

The BRIT Awards are the British Phonographic Industry's annual popular music awards - held to celebrate the best musical talent in Britain.

"(It's) a really great list that reflects the year of music and shows just how much fresh talent is coming through".

The BRIT Awards 2019 will take place on February 20 at London's famous O2 Arena.
