Ohio State QB Tate Martell is exploring a transfer

As an undergraduate, Martell would have to sit out next season if he transfers to another school without receiving a waiver from Ohio State.

Ohio State quarterback Tate Martell is in the NCAA's transfer portal, which allows other programs to communicate with him to explore future options and could mean his departure from the Buckeyes.

Fans on social media were really shocked when they discovered Martell's real name after a portal screenshot showed up as "Tathan" instead of "Tate Martell".

Martell, a former four-star recruit, has spent two years at Ohio State and thrown for 269 yards and one touchdown while adding 128 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Justin Fields announced his transfer to Ohio State on January 4, creating a tense competition between the two players.

"I am just going to tell you - if anyone comes in, it's going to".

Martell's comments came after a tweet days before Christmas advising someone not named to not swing and miss on their second opportunity.

Look, Martell has every right to transfer and do what is in his best interest.

Mars' ask for Fields to have immediate eligibility for the 2019 season could take some time, but he expects an answer within the next six weeks.
