Fans confused by tie at Critics' Choice Awards

Social media has gone into overdrive after the result of the Best Actress in a Limited Series at the Critics Choice Awards was a tie.

"Amy Adams couldn't even win a Critics' Choice Award without f*****g tying". The 24th annual gala is always watched with close attention by film fans, as it is seen as the most accurate predictor of the Academy Award nominations.

Accepting his comedy award, Bale said: "I guess time sort of allows it to be considered a comedy, but it's really a tragedy".

"Roma" won trophies for best picture, best foreign-language film, and for both director and cinematography for Cuaron.

When the award was presented, Amy Adams was the first to be announced as a victor.

Roma beat out an impressive field of Best Picture nominees to take home the award, including Mary Poppins Returns, Vice, A Star is Born, If Beale Street Could Talk, Green Book, First Man, The Favorite, BlacKkKlansman, and the Ryan Coogler-directed Marvel Studios film Black Panther.

"I accept this award as an encouragement to myself to be courageous enough to face and see myself, and by doing, hopefully, I can understand and see others, and ultimately I can help others to see themselves", she said. In a rpeat from the Golden Globes a little over a week ago, while absent British actress Olivia Colman won the Best Actress (comedy) award for her role in The Favourite.

"Maisel" tied for top television winners with three apiece.

And comedy thriller Killing Eve was also recognised, with star Sandra Oh named best actress in a drama series. "Maisel" won the top comedy honor for the second year in a row, and series star Rachel Brosnahan also was a repeat victor for best actress in a comedy series.
