Lil Uzi Vert Says He’s ‘Done With Music’

The "New Patek" rapper shocked fans on Friday (January 11) when he announced that he's stepping away from the rap game.

The announcement comes as Uzi was readying his highly-anticipated sophomore album, Eternal Atake, which was expected to be released this year.

Lil Uzi Vert is, without doubt, one of the top young rap artists of his era and has notched a number of smash hit singles over the past three years while amassing a loyal fan base. "I deleted everything. I wanna be normal... I WANNA WAKE UP IN 2013", read the post's message.

"You are free", Uzi added in text at the bottom of his post.

Uzi could be trolling fans to promote the album, but the Philly rapper has not been shy about voicing his displeasure with DJ Drama and Don Cannon's record label, Generation Now.

However, Uzi's apparently not planning to release the project anymore as he claims to be quitting music cold turkey. A year ago him and Don Cannon announced we'd be getting his forthcoming album Eternal Atake within time, likely before the end of 2018. What's unclear is whether Lil Uzi is serious or whether this is a publicity stunt. Other popular musicians, like Jay-Z and Justin Bieber, have made sudden claims about not making music, only to return soon.
