Weather Authority: Snow to continue falling into the afternoon Sunday

The National Weather Service/Wakefield has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for inland Worcester and Accomack counties, including the cities of Snow Hill, Chincoteague, Wallops Island, and Melfa. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for counties south of 36 Highway, including Platte, Clinton, Caldwell, and Livingston. In Boston, there is a slight chance of snow showers from 3 to 8 a.m. Monday. "Many have already seen over 5" of snow, with more to come. They have chosen 195 as their line in the sand while I have chosen Route 78. Forecasters predict Wake County will be largely spared of winter weather but will see rain. Those in the area should expect heavier amounts Saturday and overnight. This is consistent enough with my overall forecast for region which is for 1 to 2 north of 76 and 2 to 3 inches south of Route 76.

Most of Kentucky is starting off to a very wet start for this Sunday.

Chicago, other portions of Cook County and the collar counties of Kane, DuPage, Will and Lake saw almost 4 inches of moderate snowfall, the weather service said. A few spots could drop into the lower 30s which means rain could transition into snow or a wintry mix.

Meteorologists are predicting freezing rain mainly north and east of Raleigh.
